The Red Hen is yet another incredible and well known DC restaurant. They serve the best fresh pasta in town, with a familiar menu of staple yet elevated Italian dishes. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or a simple family outing. You will not be disappointed! We’ve gone here a few times and find that their service and food remain perfect. We’ll be back soon enough, especially for the whipped ricotta toast. Reservations drop a month in advance at midnight. Beware, they sell out rather quickly. My only complaint is that their bathrooms need some serious renovations. For such an incredible restaurant, I’m shocked at how run down they were.

Great food in a fun atmosphere. Tall ceilings so can get loud. A bit cool (temperature) by the window where we sat. Wait staff was very helpful and accommodating. We were able to sample some wines that looked interesting and settled on a nice bottle of the Pinot Grigio. Delicious pasta dishes, and antipasti. Whipped Ricotta Crostini were tasty. Burrata salad was great as were the arancini. We didn’t try any secondi. Desserts that we loved were the lemon chiffon and tiramisu. We will return to try the rest of the menu!

We’ve been here before for take out and after trying the food and seeing the atmosphere we were DEtErMiNED to return. Arancini was very crisp on the outside and soft in the inside + flavorful, bread was very yummy too! Loved the pasta. The garganelli with spicy lamb sausage was reminiscent of Uyghurs noodles slightly. The squid ink linguini was very flavorful and the pasta was cooked to perfection. When we asked for dessert menu the server gave us a card instead of the actual menu and it was then I realized I was getting proposed at here!!! It was very very sweet and the staffs were all in it. Anyways, after the proposal and I said yes, they brought the real dessert menu and we shared the carrot cake for our dessert. Carrot cake was moist, not overly sweet, paired with the ginger gelato was great! Great neighborhood restaurant, intimate atmosphere, definitely recommend checking it out!!! And huge huge thank you to all the staffs that helped making the night extra special and sweet 💛

It's a great restaurant. It has kind of a rustic feel, while having a table setup that's still intimate. The bar in the middle is open seating, but you'll be standing for a while before a seat opens up. It is best to make a reservation for one of the tables mentioned earlier. The food was excellent, and it's not easy to find good squid ink pasta. Parking is tough, as per the usual in DC, and there are only 2 bathrooms, and both are gender neutral.

Walked in without a reservation but was pleasantly let in. Ordered 2 appetisers, 2 pastas, 1 dessert which was a total of 110~ Great service! The appetisers were absolutely 💯 on point. The ricotta toast and octopus were a really great combination to start with. The toast is light, sweet and savoury. The octopus is grilled perfectly. The pastas are good effort. Have definitely eaten better ones. However, what is notable is that they are generous with the ingredients which makes up for what I found lacking in mind-blowing taste profile. Overall enjoyed ourselves very much and would recommend to head over to the Red Hen.
