WOW WOW WOW!!! Seylou ranks in the top 3 bakeries I’ve been to…. In the world! I just geeked out there for 20 minutes waiting for fresh whole wheat baguette to come out of the oven. Jonathan and his team are pushing out the best product I’ve seen coming out of an artisan bakery. They are milling their own flour which is all sourced from within a few hundred miles. The patisserie is exceptional, buttery flaky and rich. I can’t say enough great things about this place but if you are in DC, and you love quality baked goods, this is a must visit. If you are a bread head, this is heaven.

Really nice bakery/mill. Unfortunately no plugs or wifi to work but a really nice spot for fresh, healthy breads and a nice setting. When I first walked in they were brewing fresh chai and I could smell the spices. Unfortunately the concentrate wasn't as spicy as it smelled but was still good. They even have a picture where they source their grain and dairy, and sugar and other products from. Overall great experience and will be back.

Try the croissants! Industrial-minimalist decor, which I liked. I was told it was the best bakery in DC and it didn’t disappoint. I was not a fan that my entire order was prepared “to-go” when I wanted to sit down. It seemed wasteful with all the boxes and disposable cups. I moved everything to plates anyway. I suggest you let them know very clearly that you want dishes and ceramic mugs. The lady at the coffee counter was the sweetest, the cashier not so much.

I first heard about Seylou 6 months ago, I had their pizza and it was delicious. I finally made it out to the bakery and tried their savory pepper and goat cheese puff pastry, the fig and whipped ricotta pastry, their vegetable (can't remember which) and cheese bread and, the hibiscus iced tea. The pepper and goat cheese savory puff pastry was a home run. The honey glaze with the goat cheese and the mild spice of the peppers was heavenly. The whipped ricotta and fig pastry was suddenly and delicate without overwhelming your taste buds with sweetness. The vegetable and cheese bread was ok, the texture was nice but the flavor was a bit lacking. The hibiscus iced tea was tart and wonderful. I also remember their pizza being delicious and hearty. I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you can. The staff is so sweet and welcoming and the place is so clean, simple and modern.

I've been a fan for years now. Tonight's summery dinner was inspired by Seylou's great baguette. The picture isn't ideal but my husband sautéed artichoke hearts, tomatoes, chicken sausage and mozzarella and we spooned it onto the bread. Yummy!
