We came here on a whim and the food was delicious! We ordered the octopus, salad, scallop risotto, bronzing fillet, parpadella with beef rib and the burata ravioli. My least favorite thing was the salad and the actual fish. However, the veggies the fish was on were fantastic. The weather was very nice so we sat outside and it was lovely!

RETROBOTTEGA 📍2435 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 I want to preface this review by saying my boyfriend & I are not picky eaters at all and this review isn’t meant to bash a small business. The purpose of this review is just to be transparent! ✨WHAT WE ORDERED✨ Penicillina- 10/10! This is a drink with rye & ginger beer. Super refreshing and is not spirit forward. Arrosticini- 9/10. This was grilled lamb skewers. They were cooked perfectly and very flavorful without doing too much. Mushroom Pappardelle- 4/10. Very bland dish, though the mushrooms were flavorful. Scallop Risotto- 1/10. My boyfriend said the risotto was not good, though the scallops were cooked perfectly. (He sent this dish back, and he never sends back anything 😩) PARKING- 3/10. There are garages in the area and sparse street parking. It’s in Adams’s Morgan though so you can’t expect much with parking. ATMOSPHERE- 7/10. Very cute aesthetic & thoughtfully decorated. Though, It was very loud in there it’s like you have to yell to have a conversation. Also, the tables are tiny you can barely fit 2 dishes on them. CUSTOMER SERVICE- 9/10. Our server was great, though our food came out extremely slow. However our server was very apologetic and gave us complimentary tiramisu due to us sending back a dish and having slow service.

We had a great experience here. The complimentary bread was delicious. I got the pappardelle with Wild mushrooms and it was packed with umami flavor and the butter sauce was very unctuous. My wife got the gnocchi and she love it, the sauce had a lot of flavor. The service here was exceptional as well. We would definitely go back.

Had a great date night here, the server was so nice & attentive, i didn’t catch her name i wish i did! We got there right before the dinner rush & sat inside. The baccala were to die for, ravioli were amazing, and the apple tart was divine! Also the focaccia was baked to perfection.

Authentic Italian taste & flavorful ingredients. A phenomenal low lit atmosphere with an amazing pasta menu. The Lasagna & Cavatelli were 2 fantastic dishes of choice recommended by the waiter. Service was attentive & friendly from beginning to end. Our waiter went above & beyond to ensure that we were always well attended and at the table. I highly recommend this establishment if you are seeking an intimate settings with a fabulous appetite for pasta..
