This is my second time staying at this Marriott Marquis in D.C. All experiences were great! This stay I misplaced something in my room. After looking about 3 times, I alerted hotel management. Thank you Manager Alexis Thompson for being so empathetic, and assuring us the necessary steps would be taken to find my item. The next morning I found my item, and quickly alerted Alexis. I apologized, and thanked her for my human error. I will always return to the Marriot Marquis while my daughter attends Howard University. We appreciate the prompt, considerate, friendly, and exceptional customer service we received. Alexis your kindness will not be forgotten!!! Be Blessed!

This may be one of the worst hotels l've ever stayed at. Upon check-in, I went to my room. The bathroom was not clean. I called and was offered housekeeping or a room change. I opted for a room change. I had to go back to the front desk to pick up new keys. When I got to the second room, there was an issue with the bathroom lights flickering which immediately gave me a headache. I called again to request a room change and was told a bellhop would meet me at the room with new keys and would bring my luggage to the new room. After waiting about 10 minutes for the bellhop, another patron entered the room. In the span of 10 minutes, they had rebooked the room (in which I had already used the bathroom and sat in the bed) and the new resident entered. That was an awkward situation for the both of us. When the bellhop finally arrived, he was rude and did not take my luggage until I asked him to put it on the cart. He repeatedly asked me for the old set of keys and kindly offered to rifle through my purse for me because I told him my hands were full and could not look for them at that very moment. The third room is acceptable compared to the first two but still has cleanliness issues. There was gum on the carpet and a stained and dirty lampshade. Everything going on in the courtyard area can be heard in the internal facing rooms. When I attempted to raise my concerns via the app, I was rudely told “Ma’am is there something that we can assist with?” Update: just noticed that my mobile key is still to my previous room. Yes, I restarted the app and logged out and back in again. Security is clearly not a top priority here.

My partner and I stayed here on a Saturday-Monday trip to visit friends in the area. Overall, a very nice stay and I’d stay here again in the future. We arrived early (12:30pm) and were able to get into our room right away, and due to my Platinum status were upgraded to an executive suite. The hotel did not seem too busy this weekend and I get the sense it is more of a weekday conference/business traveler hotel so your experience may vary on upgrade availability. We also got a $30 daily dining credit for on-site restaurants which was a nice perk as well. Overall, nice smooth check-in experience with friendly desk workers. The suite was spacious, clean, and quiet and had lots of windows for nice natural light. Bed was comfortable. Only two minor gripes: 1) it was a bit tricky to get the shower to a good temperature as it would transition right from too hot to too cold (at least for my preference). But I only took a couple of very short showers so it didn’t matter much. 2) Bed only had a nightstand on one side. Not a problem if you’re traveling alone but not so good for a couple. Even a very small shelf for my glasses, phone, and a glass of water would have been a plus. Gym was nice with lots of equipment; FYI there are two levels with a staircase connecting them inside the gym - my partner missed that initially and was confused to not find a weight rack on the floor you enter on. Only used the lounge briefly a couple of times but it had a nice selection of desserts in the evening and breakfast options in the morning as well as drinks. The attendant working at the door at breakfast was very nice. Starbucks in the lobby was very convenient to grab coffee in the morning without going out in the cold.

Great location for food, fun and work. Just a short walk to the Capital One Arena and tons of restaurants and bars in the area. This hotel is connected to the Convention Center. Great steakhouse restaurant and Starbucks inside the hotel. My only complaint is that there is no shuttle to the airport.

Cons: Destination fee that is mandatory leaves no choice but to have breakfast at the local restaurant. Asked about parking cost and it was $65. Saw the bill with $75. Apparently they determined the vehicle to be oversized and didn’t explain me this upfront. Could not find any policy explaining the conditions for the vehicle to be oversized on the website. And these charges aren’t communicated to the guest. Feel this is not a fair practice. Pros: location is close to main sightseeing areas, nice rooms, beautiful interior.
