I’ve been waiting to try FishScale for a while but haven’t made it over to the area until just now. Small shop but fun design and I loved how you can see the chef preparing everything. It was awesome to see his attention to detail and how focused he was putting together everything. The fish was fried perfectly and the house made Mumbo sauce was also delicious. This is a great place to eat if you are on a casual date and want to do something unique.

Fishscales is one of my favorite restaurants in DC hands down (wheather dine in or take out). As a pescatarian for more than 2-decades, finding a consistent place to eat has always been a challenge for me and Fishscales became just that and I've been coming for years. At the rate all other major food chains charge for pescatarian options, you get way better (and real food) at Fishscales. It being black owned is just icing on the cake. My favorites are the blue catfish or salmon cheesesteaks with the extra sauce, thank me later ;)

Was in town visiting, gabbed a bit before a show. This place is a FULL VIBE! Music on Point! Service was impeccable! The fish was a nice clean think cut, fried to perfection! Also those potatoes simple but done ALL the way CORRECT! Will definitely be back next time in town!

Great dining experience. The staff is very friendly and take the time explain the menu and give suggestions. Food is well seasoned and tasty with a hearty portion.

The food here was soo yummy and the service was phenomenal. The owners of the place served us directly at the counter and helped me navigate the menu for my food allergies. I was able to enjoy a lovely gluten free and dairy free meal of fried catfish, collard greens (so sweet, spicy, and flavorful) and fried smashed potatoes plus their homemade mumbo sauce. 10/10. I crushed my plate so quickly. My friend got the jerk fish cheesesteak with salmon and also loved it. A super creative, fresh, and tasty menu all around. Lovely to support a family owned and operated local business as well. Highly recommend!
