The restaurant has a very small space and you could definitely feel the close proximity that makes it feel cramped.
Despite this, we were seated very effectively and the food was delivered in such a timely manner.
The dish options were normal but not overwhelming and the appetizers and entrees were incredibly flavorful. I would say depending on your dish, it may be smaller or larger than you expect.
I would advise not taking a car as it probably applies to all of DC, public transit and walking access was amazing and the area did not feel unsafe at the 8pm hour that we ate.
Overall, we enjoyed our service, a comfortable authentic Mexican place for visitors!

When it comes to Mexican cuisine I’m spoiled with some of the best restaurants locally. That being said the bar is set high and personally el sol does not hit those standards. Chicken and beef tongue are dry. Tortilla chips are not fresh.

I dined at this restaurant today. While the food was decent, I was very disappointed to discover that the restaurant had added a gratuity to my bill without informing me beforehand. I believe it is wrong not to disclose this type of policy to customers upfront. Had I known, it would have factored into my decision to dine here. I hope the restaurant will consider being more transparent about added gratuities going forward.

An awesome spot for some authentic Mexican food! The enchiladas called to me and were so filling and tasty. The maracuya margarita was sour but good! Fair prices for the portions too. I was so full!

Wow, was my overall first impression! This place came highly recommended & it did not disappoint. I almost want to keep it a secret just to locals. But I must share. I am usually very picky when places claim to have “Authentic” Mexican food because I know that is a tall order to follow. However, as soon as you open the menu & see the variety of plates, you know it’s not just another taco place. It has a beautiful upstairs seating area with an additional downstairs. I ordered an horchata and with that alone sealed my 5 star review. Got to try the Canasta de Tacos & Torta…10/10! Can’t wait to go back and try another one of their platters.
